Flying Seagull Project

Curated by Ed Harcourt, The Flying Seagull Project’s Benefit For Child Refugees, at London’s Union Chapel on Friday 2nd December 2016, included amazing performances by Charlotte Church, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Carl Barât of The Libertines, The Magic Numbers, Simon Munnery, Tom McRae, Kathryn Williams, Colin Sell, Lock and Dirty Pretty Strings. In a wonderful climax, Charlotte Church led a spine-tingling rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah featuring all the artists. Streaming Pictures broadcast live across Facebook the entire three hours of fantastic music.

The visually stunning backdrop featured original artwork by Iain Rayner, short films of the camps in Greece and award-winning photography by Katie Barlow, Christian Stephens and Katherine Needles.

  • Awareness of the event is high with over 100 million people reached via BBC World, 6 Music, NME, Radio London, Sky News, London Live, Fubar Radio and The Canary.
  • Feedback from the 900 capacity audience, and online, has been phenomenal, with many saying it was their best gig ever.
  • The event won a special production award from Mash Media.
  • The Flying Seagull Project brings happiness to children who are underprivileged, marginalised or suffering by running art workshops, music lessons and circus shows in hospitals, orphanages, deaf/blind schools and refugee camps around the world.
